Maggie counters her bad-girl rep by avoiding guys, except for Eli and his gang. Eli’s different, a real friend with no ulterior motives. With hard work and her new friend, Maggie’s life is looking up. Even college is within her grasp and her new passion, surfing, gives her more joy than she’s ever known with a guy. But will a little carelessness cause her to lose everything?
Maggie, from the Eli Diaries, continues to evolve in Melody Carlson’s novelette (59 pgs) With the Tide. Delving deeply into Maggie’s character makes a fascinating study of human nature. It also provides insight into first-century circumstances surrounding the character of Jesus and his disciples, both men and women. The story is a little episodic, but it makes a nice quick read and is standalone.
In this spiritual speculative, Jesus (Eli) comes to earth in an alternative universe in the equivalent 21st-century where he attends a local California high school. The series chronicles five characters as they interact with Eli the Messiah
