After surviving the prison camps, Portia Abernathy helped spark a revolution that swept through the American Socialists United—ASU in the year 2050. Now, still recovering from her injuries, she and other leaders of the Brotherhood try to reassemble the pieces of their shattered nation. Meanwhile, their nemesis, Felix, has retreated to a northern stronghold with most of his army intact. When the Brotherhood discovers his next move, it’s a race against the clock to defend the land and find allies. Portia is sent to cement an allegiance with another country willing to stand against tyranny. Once again, Portia falls into a whirlpool of political and relational intrigue.

Book 3 of The Rogues Series continues the story of Portia and the struggle of a revolutionary government to survive. The heroine continues to develop, this time more romantically and relationally with nicely nuanced spirituality. The strong supporting cast of male characters, both friend and enemy, adds color, and the imaginative plot features nice tension throughout. Although not quite as intense as the first two books, the dramatic action and resolution make The Reactionary a satisfying conclusion to the series.
