A Polynesian king forges his crown into a medallion blessed by the One who uses it to protect the people of Aumakua Island until it was lost. Two hundred years later, thirteen-year-old Billy Stone, an aspiring archeologist, discovers the mysterious artifact helped by his orphan friend Allie. But Cobb the local mafia boss also wants the medallion to dominate the beautiful Pacific Island. Cobb’s henchmen hunt down Billy and Allie and threaten to kill Billy’s father if they don’t cooperate. But the medallion has a mind of its own, throwing Billie and Allie back in time 200 years into the middle of a battle. Now Billie and his new friends contend with Cobb’s prototype, the evil King Cobra, to save the medallion, Aumakua Island and its peaceful inhabitants.

In this quest for The Lost Medallion, Billy and his friends discover that it’s what’s on the inside of a person that is the true treasure. Aimed at the younger audience, Bill Muir and Alex Kendrick provide brisk action that accelerates nicely to the climax. Although the book contains some graphic violence, the battle scenes are tame, and appropriate for the younger readers. Fantasy, time travel and the magical powers of the medallion are firmly linked to the One who is the source of its power in a firmly Christian worldview.
