A hunted fugitive in a dystopian–apocalyptic America, Logan Langley, seeks passage to the city of Beacon to find his sister, Lily. Meanwhile Daniel Peck and his ragtag group of teenage rebels, called the Dust, narrowly elude government DOME agents. Logan’s former middle school friend, Erin Arbitor, betrays the fugitives and in the ensuing raid, government agents kill Logan’s adult mentor, but not before he reveals an underground network called The River. This channel shelters the Markless through the apocalyptic ruins of what once was the Midwest and Atlantic Coast. Logan, Daniel and the Dust embark, and through many adventures in separate channels, find their way to Beacon. However, Erin, computer hacker extraordinaire, tracks them down, but with her conflicted loyalties will she betray them again to DOME—or join Logan’s cause to free Lily from the mysterious prison of Acheron?
Sneak, Book II in the Swipe Series, continues the adventures of Logan Langley and his teenage friends who have refused the mark and have reluctantly decided to fight for freedom. The Swipe Series is a creative take on the Book of Revelation, the rise of antichrist, a one world government, the mark, and persecution of Christians. The protagonist is ignorant of the spiritual component in Book I, but in the well paced development of his spirituality, Logan learns enough to come to prayer in Book II. Although creative and with a nice twist at the end, the plot had some bumps for me. In addition, the variety of characters and points of view inhibited connecting with any one character; otherwise I’d have rated this book higher.
