Ruby Graves is a girl with a hot temper and an amazing gift. In northern Alabama during the Great Depression, Ruby loses her father and the family farm in quick succession. And yet out of courage and faith, God does something amazing through her. Still, this miracle and Ruby’s determination to help the helpless awakens dark forces that array against her on every side. An intense struggle ensues, not the least of which is her war with her own feelings for Matthew, an older boy from a higher social class.

Healing Ruby features a strong and interesting character and touches upon intense suffering, persecution, faith and how a young teen handles the awakening of romantic feelings. This book also explores the issue of an individual possessing the gift of healing. Jennifer H. Westall presents the spiritual controversy well in this work of fiction and leaves the reader to decide for themselves how God might work through a willing, yet flawed character.

  1. Fantastic series (4 books) about people whose faith is an important part of their lives. They have struggles, just like us real people, but God walks through the trials with them. Excellent reading for tweens, teens, and adults.
