After four years in juvie, Ashton Keller, convicted killer, returns to Gilt Hollow bent on revenge. His return and re-enrollment in high school shake the community—and no one more so than Willow Lamont. After years of persecution for defending Ashton’s innocence, Willow’s only wish is to forget the past, get through her senior year in high school and escape to college. But Ashton rekindles old feelings and Willow can’t decide whether he’s a villain, a hero or something else. With his feelings for Willow also reawakened, Ashton must tread carefully. But his quest turns ugly and threatens everyone he cares about—including Willow.

Lorie Langdon, co-author of the popular Doon Series, strikes out on her own with Gilt Hollow. The plot keeps you guessing and should satisfy demanding mystery buffs. Both hero and heroine are well developed and interesting characters, even if the hero is somewhat idealized in his attitude toward the heroine. The romantic elements are compelling and a little steamy, but this is a fun, clean read.
