Crater Trueblood lost his parents young when they immigrated to the moon. Growing up in the village of Moontown was rough, and Crater worked hard as a miner just to make ends meet. When Colonel Medaris sends Crater on a mysterious mission, his prospects improve. And when the Colonel’s beautiful granddaughter, Maria, joins the quest, Crater is smitten. But highwaymen, assassins, and a mysterious cabal intent on murder dog Crater’s every move from long haul trucking across the moonscape to space travel. Will he succeed and retrieve the life-saving package for Colonel Medaris? And could Maria ever develop feelings for him?

Crater is written in the traditional sci-fi style, with realistic representations of what life on the moon could be like. Crater, the 17-year-old underdog-hero, is an interesting character. Although the omniscient point of view portrays Crater as somewhat distant, his inspiring faith and heroism shine through. In addition, the unique world-building and compelling quest make this a fun read.
