Recommended Authors
The following are authors whose books I’ve read, and who in my opinion provide excellent entertainment. Their books reinforce Christian values (at a minimum) and usually produce strong Christian themes—messages of hope for teens and tweens that they too can navigate those turbulent years and overcome.
Of course there are many other authors that could be added to this list, and there will be as I continue to read books and write reviews. I’m focusing primarily on middle school students, especially boys, an often overlooked age group, so most of the books reviewed feature a 12 to 14 year-old protagonist(s). However, I am also reviewing for late middle grade (4th and 5th grade) and high school, so I’m including books that will appeal to those students as well, both boys and girls.
Encouraging 8 to 14 year-old students, and boys in particular, to read good Christian fiction will promote spiritual growth during these formative years. The more one reads, the better the reader, and better reading facilitates reading, studying, and comprehending God’s word. Moreover, enhanced reading skills are also crucial to academic performance. Hence, for both reasons, reading good Christian fiction can affect the trajectory of a life.
The following authors have links to his or her websites. In the few cases where the authors are deceased or no longer write, I’m placing a link to obtain the book(s) that I have in mind for this age group (however most such books can be found by searching this site).
