Readers will step into the shoes of Willie Robertson, president of Duck Commander, who discovers a strange outhouse inside the company warehouse. Figuring a gag with a nasty result, he gets his son, John Luke, to go inside and explore. When his son disappears, Willie is still convinced his brothers are playing a stupendous prank on him. Next, his brother Jase enters the outhouse and disappears followed by uncle Si, and finally his dad, Phil. Willie finally steps inside the old-fashioned outhouse and discovers it’s a time machine. There follows all sorts of interesting and hilarious adventures as Willy tries to rescue his three relatives and return them safely to the year 2014.
Willie’s Redneck Time Machine is definitely humor—clean humor in the Robertson tradition. If you like Duck Dynasty you will appreciate this book. The authors, John Luke Robertson and Travis Thrasher, also employ an interesting interactive component where the reader, playing the character Willie, gets to make decisions that land him or her all over the book in a variety of plots, possibilities and endings. A Christian worldview and strong family values are woven throughout, and the ever interesting concept of time travel explored.
