Billy Bannister has breath that’ll peel paint—and it’s becoming downright dangerous in middle school. When Billy and the new girl, Bonnie Silver, discover their dragon heritages and powers, they must contend with a ruthless murderer determined to wipe out the remnants of all dragons—including them. The plot accelerates into non stop action, headlong flights, and desperate battles with dark knights. But Billy and Bonnie find themselves as players in a story that began 1,500 years earlier with King Arthur, his knights and Merlin, portrayed as a prophet of God. Will they find the courage, wisdom and faith to save the remnant of good dragons?
I was skeptical of Raising Dragons, but it proved to have a super cool dragon plot, great pacing, action and creativity with a thoroughly Christian worldview. There’s some hugging and handholding between Billy and Bonnie and what looks like budding romantic feelings that never fully develop as Bonnie insists it’s merely brother and sister love. This is a great read, and I’m excited to see there’s lots more from Bryan Davis.
