Thirteen-year-old TJ Finkelstein is still adjusting to a new home, new school, and now her first Christmas without Mom. She wants to cheer Dad up, but her younger sister, Violet, has planned something so awesome for Dad that TJ must outdo her. The good news is that she still has two teenage time travelers, Herby and Tuna, trying to “help.” The bad news is that Herby and Tuna are still trying to “help.” TJ lands a job at the department store, but now she must brave mercantile ogres, the machinations of her school rival, Hesper Breakaheart, and a long string of sorry incidents. Herby, Tuna, and her hot next door neighbor, Chad Steel try to encourage TJ that Christmas is more than just the biggest and best present. But what will it take to convince her?
Bill Myers is a master of humor, and Ho-Ho-Nooo! is no exception. With interesting insight into the people of today’s’ culture, the author uses hyperbole, and tongue in cheek humor, to entertain and reveal positive truths about family, faith and friends. Although primarily aimed at middle school girls this book’s nonstop action and humor should appeal to all ages and genders.
